Grandma's chicken noodle soup

1 whole chicken
1 small celery bunch
3 medium carrots
3 medium red or white potatoes
2 medium brown onions
1 bag of egg noodles
salt & pepper
cheese cloth

Chop all veggies into bite sized pieces. Take the insides out of chicken and wrap in cheese cloth. Put everything into very large stock pot and fill up with water. Bring to a boil & reduce to simmer and cover. Cook for 5 hours remove chicken and discard cheese cloth. Remove meat and put into the soup and discard bones & skin. Cook the noodles separately and add before serving .  S & P to taste. Makes a ton of soup and you can freeze it.

This is actually my husband's family recipe for matzo ball soup. You make the matzo balls according to the recipe on the box and add to the soup at the last minute. You can actually add wild rice or other noodles you have on hand if you like.
